The Mythic Body
© Olivier Roller In 2008, Sadler's Wells organized an event named "body:language series" in the Lilian Bayles Studio. It was a series of discussion talks with certain choreographers in the aspect of a theoretical frame chosen/curated by Guy Cools. Here, the first one we would like to share with you is the discussion of Guy Cools with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. For the ones who are unfamiliar with Guy Cools, he is dramaturge, writer and curator. He also gives lectures in Europe. As a starting point for the discussion, he chose Stanley Keleman's book , "Myth and Body", which is based on a colloquy with Joseph Campbell. The former is the director of the Center for Energetic Studies in Berkeley, California and a maestro in somatic studies and the latter was a prominent mythologist who gave an interest in comparative mythology.
